ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - With all this snow, summer may seem an eternity away for students, but thanks to all those snow days, summer vacation actually is getting further and further away.

Indiana's NewsCenter spoke with leaders from five local school districts in Huntington and Allen Counties.

Fort Wayne Community School officials say the last day of school for students was supposed to be June 7, but is now June 13. Graduation will likely be pushed back, but no final decision has been made yet.

Northwest Allen County School officials say the last day for their students was supposed to be May 25, but is now June 7. Graduation will be pushed back, but they are still deciding on a date.

Southwest Allen County School officials say the last day for their students was supposed to be June 1, but is now June 9. Graduation will be pushed back, but they are still deciding on a date.

East Allen County School officials say the last day for their students was supposed to be June 1, but is now June 13. However, they are working on the possibility of letting students out a day or two before. Administrators hope to keep their graduation date of June 10 unchanged.

Huntington School officials say the last day for their students was supposed to be May 24, but is now May 31. Each year they wait until early March to decide on a graduation date. Talks are underway about when that will be this year.

Students must go 180 days each year, and the above dates may change if more school is canceled due to weather.

Also, officials urge parents and staff to not schedule vacations or other events directly following the last days of class, because the weather can be unpredictable, and there is always the possibility of having to go further into summer to make up cancellations.
