FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - The Hotel Fitness Championship festivities kicked off Sunday night with the annual Mad Anthonys Red Coat Dinner at Memorial Coliseum Expo Center.

Gov. Mike Pence, R-Ind., presented this year's Red Coat to Bruce Dye, CEO of Hotel Fitness and former president of Heritage Service Group, as Hoosier Celebrity of the Year.

"It's a very humbling thing," Dye says. "We're always trying to bring people to Fort Wayne, and we've got to have something for them to do. I was out on the course the last couple of days, and this really is going to look like a professional golf event."

The Mad Anthonys has been a summer tradition since 1958, and Dye becomes the 87th Red Coat recipient.

21Alive's Tommy Schoegler and Kent Hormann emceed the event.

This year, Mad Anthonys and PGA formed a partnership that evolves the Charity Classic into a pro-am ahead of the Web.com Tour's Hotel Fitness Championship.

The Mad Anthonys Pro-Am at the Hotel Fitness starts at 1 p.m. Monday at Sycamore Hills Golf Club. The Hotel Fitness Championship begins Thursday at Sycamore Hills, also.

21Alive's 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. newscasts will be live from Sycamore Hills Golf Club on Thursday and Friday.

21Alive sports will also broadcast special editions of Sound Off from the Hotel Fitness Championship from 7:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday; and from 7 to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
