FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) – Homes for Wounded Warriors is helping soldiers who have been seriously wounded in combat live a better life when they return home.
On Saturday, American Legion Post 241 came to the help of U.S. Army specialist Matthew Moeller of Fort Wayne.
Moeller was a combat engineer and was seriously injured in Afghanistan by a roadside bomb. He is now disabled and cannot find a job since the injury decreased a large portion of his mobility.
The fundraiser included a silent auction, raffles, and a construction auction in hopes of helping out this veteran and his family.
“All the money goes to the veteran. This is our first attempt at really building a home for this person and our expectation is that we'll be able to fund at least half of the home, said Commander David Miller with American Legion Post 241.
