FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) -- Five shootings over the weekend leave two men dead and two others in critical condition.

19-year old Montez Brooks was one of the ones who died from his injuries. He had been a standout on the Bishop Luers football team.

The defensive player -- number 15 -- transfered to Bishop Luers with his brother Jamarquay, who is a senior this year and also plays for the team.

Montez had been at Snider High School before that, and did not finish his senior year at Luers last year.

Saturday night, he was dropped off at Parkview Hospital, then transferred to Parkview Regional Medical Center, where he died within an hour from at least one gunshot wound.

Luers principal Mary Keefer tells us Brooks had a huge smile and an even bigger hug.

"He was kind of known for his big bear hugs. He was a big, big guy, kind of square rather than tall and lanky. And he gave great hugs," Keefer said.

Keefer was hoping to pay her respects to Brooks' family soon.

"I am so sorry, we pray for your family, we pray for his soul. It's so sad, somebody so young's life is cut so short. It's just painful for everybody who knew him and loved him and cared about him," Keefer said.

The case has been frustrating for detectives, since Brooks was dropped off at the hospital, so there wasn't initially a crime scene to investigate.
