ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) --- One mystery solved, no answer yet for at least one more in an Allen County death investigation.

We now have identification on a body found inside a burning car in a rural area west of Fort Wayne International Airport.

We know who died, but not how he died, or if it was a crime.

The Allen County Coroner's office says the victim is 51-year old Steven Dwayne Turner of Fort Wayne.

On Wednesday, firefighters responded to reports of a car fire on West Ferguson Road and put out the blaze.

When they checked inside the car, they got a surprise, finding a badly burned body.

The coroner's office still hasn't been able to pinpoint cause or manner of death.

Undoubtedly, the condition of the body isn't helping.

John Brazzell, a former coroner in Noble County, says if a crime was committed, fire won't necessarily hide the truth.

" I'm not saying it's always possible, but in most cases, I think, if you've got a trained pathologist, he's looking for answers or she's looking for answers, you're going to find something. People will use fire sometimes to cover things up, but you see a lot of times where what they've covered up is out in plain sight," said Brazzell, who now runs a funeral home in Avilla.

According to Brazzell, evidence of a bullet wound, a stabbing, or some other telltale sign of foul play can often be discovered in a forensic examination.

It's possible the death in this case was a homicide, or it could be an accident or something else.
