UNDATED (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Even though shipping giant FedEx more than doubled its first quarter earnings, the company will lay of 1,700 employees.

FedEx will also close more than 100 centers, although it's not known which facilities are targeted.

The company is losing money on its truck shipping, so it will consolidate its freight and less-than-load operations.

Most of the profits come from FedEx’s International Priority sector.
