NEW HAVEN, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) – The East Allen County School district holds a meet and greet Tuesday night for families to become acquainted with their new superintendent, Dr. Kenneth Folks.

It's been three weeks since he's been superintendent, but Tuesday evening Dr. Kenneth Folks made his public debut to families in the East Allen (EACS) school district.

Dr. Folks says since being hired, he's met with a few people, but the meet and greet was an opportunity to meet with everyone.

EACS district officials held a meet and greet to give East Allen families a chance to become better acquainted with Dr. Folks and learn about his vision for the schools.

Dr. Folks emphasized the need for families, teachers, and staff to know he's accessible, and that communication is key. He says he would love for people to be able to approach him at games and share their ideas and opinions with him.

If it's one thing he wants families to walk away with after meeting him Tuesday evening, it's this, "Hopefully they say, this is Ken Folks, he's a regular guy, he's from Allen County, he's lived here most of his life. He understands us. He's in tune to what the issues are in East Allen County. He's really concerned about the education of our children and he wants to work with us,” he said.

Dr. Folks says one immediate change he wants to make is implementing data-driven instruction in the schools. That’s where they used data from standardized tests to figure where student strengths and weaknesses are, and teach students based on the findings. Dr. Folks says he also wants principals to become the educational leaders of their buildings.
