FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- More exciting news coming to the downtown Fort Wayne area.

Another potential spot for downtown living and retail space is in the works now that four pieces of property have been purchased on a popular street known as the landing on Columbia Street.

The Downtown Development Trust has bought the former Cancun night club building along with Bruggemans office.

As of now, there are many ideas to redevelop the buildings into restaurants, different night clubs, retailers, and living space.

The living spaces would occupy the second floor of the buildings.

The downtown trust's redevelopment commission will be in charge of any renovations for these buildings.

The landing is already a popular area for night life, and has another living development being built across the street known as the Randall Lofts.

Downtown Improvement District officials say there is a high demand for downtown living.

“I believe you're going to see living, there's a big appetite for living downtown. I think one of the main goals is to get those properties so that the upper floors are being utilized for living. People like to live in those loft type properties and I think that's really important. I think that's what we'll see,” Downtown Improvement District President Bill Brown said.

There is not a set date for the redevelopment process.
