FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - Things got a little hairy on the north side of town Saturday afternoon, as it was “Responsible Dog Owner’s Day” at Shoaff Park.
The fun dog-filled day, which was hosted by Northeastern Indiana Kennel Club (NIKC), included obedience and agility demos, a dog show and a demonstration from the police K9 Unit.
There was plenty of information about dogs and how to care for them, but the event wasn't just for the owners.
Amy Bloemendaal, with NIKC, says the event is a lot of fun for the dogs as well.
“It's great socialization for your dogs just to keep them out with other dogs and lots of people so it's lots of fun for them too,” Bloemendaal said.
NIKC recommends spaying or neutering your dog, as well as installing a microchip in the collar in case your furry friend ever gets lost.
