FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) – At a regularly scheduled monthly meeting Tuesday, the Consolidated Communications Partnership said they are exploring the possibility of moving to a new facility.
The Consolidated Communications Partnership (CCP) is a recently established partnership between dispatches within the City of Fort Wayne and Allen County. Currently, the CCP is located in the basement of the City-County Building. As a single entity, they receive emergency calls and coordinate relief, rescue and response efforts.
CCP Executive Director Timothy Lee says a space study is currently being performed to properly gauge the possibility of such a move.
Lee says the transition into a unified dispatch has been a success but says morale in the windowless basement of the City-County Building could change that. He also says the CCP could use more space and would possibly like to expand.
“We’re looking at the endeavor of possibly expanding and taking on more dispatching in the future. Our current location basically has us restricted, so the perfect scenario would be to move outside of the current facility.”
Lee says he would like to explore the possibility of adding dispatchers from area hospitals as a way to better coordinate emergency life flight cases for example.
Lee says the results of the space study could be made available by mid-December.
