FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - A memorial, honoring Fort Wayne Police and Firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice, is one step closer to being finished.

Over the past year, officials have been raising money in order to complete the project.

Today, the sixteen names of police officers were etched into the granite as a way to cement their legacies.

Owner of Affordable Granite & Stone Stuart Cox says, “This is a living and lasting memorial to the individuals who have given the full measure of devotion to our community. In stone so that they are not forgotten over time."

The entire memorial is expected to be completed by the spring of next year.
