FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) -- Since Spring is here, it's time for Spring cleaning!
A group of “Clean and Green” volunteers met Saturday morning to clean up sidewalks, intersections, and alley-ways in downtown Fort Wayne. “Clean and Green” is a program that’s part of the city’s Downtown Improvement District.
The group meets once a month from the start of Spring to the end of Fall, and each month they pick a different section of downtown to clean up.
Volunteers were doing their part to improve the community by raking leaves, and picking up cans and bottles.
“We have bucket brigades, they have a reach and grab and a bucket. And they head off to find litter and debris, things that you're not always going to want to pick up by hand. So the reach and grab helps in that regard,” said Frank Howard, Clean and Green’s Director of Environmental and Business Services.
This month the group focused on cleaning up Wayne, Calhoun, Berry, Main, and Harrison Streets.
