FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) – It's never too late to celebrate success... Nor is it too early to promote it. Fort Wayne Police Chief Garry Hamilton made a special appearance at the Boys & Girls Club of Fort Wayne Monday.

Chief Hamilton took time out of his busy schedule to read a children's book about an officer and his police dog, and be honored for his appointment as chief at the beginning of this year.

But, his visit wasn't just about story time. The Chief and Boys & Girls Club Executive Director Joe Jordan, wanted to change the perception of police officers and inspire kids to fulfill their dreams.

Watch the video to hear from kids at the program.
