SANDUSKY, Ohio (21Alive) – A cable snapped on a ride at Cedar Point amusement park leaving two people injured.

Cedar Point officials say the accident happened around 10 p.m. Saturday on the Skyhawk ride. Skyhawk has two giant arms that swing riders up to 125 feet at speeds of up to 60 mph.

A statement released by park officials says they shut down the ride immediately and notified the park's emergency personnel.

According to reports, the ride's cable came into contact with the two guests. One person was treated at the scene and the other was taken to a local hospital.

Cedar Point officials say the ride will remain closed until it passes safety inspections.
