FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) – May is also National Bike month, and safety for bikers is something both drivers and riders need to be familiar with.
Officials say when you're in your car and sharing the road with a biker, you must leave at least three feet of space between the two of you. That is a law which is enforced here in Fort Wayne.
Service manager Tim Wegner at Summit City Bicycles and Fitness says bikers must also follow rules to keep themselves safe.
"As a bicycle rider you're required to follow the rules of the road: stop at stop signs, go on green lights, signal, things like that. Have lights at night,” said Wegner.
Bikers should also always know where traffic is and of course, always wear a helmet.
