AUBURN, Ind. (21Alive) – The Town of Auburn is famous for its car festivals, and this weekend the Auburn Auctions Park hosted a car show to benefit DeKalb County’s "Shop with a Cop" program.
The money raised will help the DeKalb County Sherriff’s Office give up to 30 children a chance to go Christmas shopping with a police officer.
Each child will be given a total of $150. Organizers say $120 will be spent on clothes with the remaining going toward holiday gifts.
The president of the Auburn Shifters Club says he would like to see other organizations help out.
“Next year we'd like to branch out and do some stuff with our veterans, wounded veterans, and that type of thing so we're going to see how this works,” said Tom Muehlmeyer, President of the Auburn Shifters Club.
The car show will continue Sunday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. For more information, go to their website at www.auburnshifters.com.
