FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- Allen County officials appoint new County Recorder.
On Saturday morning, Anita Mather of Fort Wayne was appointed to County Recorder.
Mather has been working with the former recorder, John McGauley, for seven and a half years. She says the work she has done over that time has made the Recorder's Office more efficient with no tax dollars being used in the process.
Mather says the first thing on her agenda is to reduce costs to online records.
“We do have some plans that can get into our records and it's a certain price, like our phone plan kind of thing. I want to reduce those costs so that it’s much more cost effective for people to use it and it will be worth them doing it instead of coming down to the office and to pay to park. It will be much better quicker and easier for them to do this,” she said.
Mather says one of her goals is to increase the amount of online recordings for public access.
