FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- Just after 1:30 p.m. the Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to the fire at Lux Cleaners near the Time Corners shopping plaza off of West Jefferson Blvd.

People driving by the business thought they saw smoke, and called the fire department.

When crews got there, they found flames in the attic of the building, and it took them more than a half hour to put out the fire.

Three people were inside the business when the fire broke out, but they managed to get outside safely before the fire fighters arrived.

Fortunately, no one was hurt but the building did sustain heavy smoke and water damage.

“When we did arrive, the three occupants that were inside business did indeed say that there was a fire inside, we made entry and were able to control it in under 32 minutes. It was open for business and I don't believe any costumers were inside, three people were able to self evacuate prior to our arrival,” Spokesman for the FWFD Stacey Fleming said.

21Alive spoke with someone off camera who said the fire started due to something flammable inside one of the driers, but the official cause is still under investigation.
