KANSAS CITY, Mo. (www.incnow.tv) – More than a dozen people are injured after a gas explosion that sent an entire block of Kansas City ablaze Tuesday evening.

Two people are still missing Wednesday morning. Search teams continue sifting through the smoldering wreckage. Fire crews are using cadaver dogs to help aid in their search.

A process that Kansas City fire officials say may take several more hours. At the site of the explosion, a restaurant, crews could not account for two people. It’s unknown if they were caught in the fire or had left earlier.

Chief Paul Beradi said, “I would always fear that there are fatalities in a situation like this. When we got to the scene we had a fully involved restaurant that had patrons, probably several patrons inside at the time of the incident, and that's why we are searching as we are."

The cause of the blast is under investigation, but witnesses have reported smelling natural gas hours before the explosion.
