1413th Engineer Company Deploys To Afghanistan (VIDEO & PHOTOS)

FRANKLIN, Ind. (21Alive) – Soldiers of the 1413th Engineer Company bid farewell to family and friends in Franklin, Ind. before they begin a nearly year-long deployment to Afghanistan.

The plumbers, electricians, carpenters and Masons will perform base closure and retrograde operations in support of the drawdown of "Operation Enduring Freedom".

The unit consists of more than 150 soldiers. The company deployed overseas in 2013 to El Salvador to aid in the construction of a school as part of a humanitarian effort.
