FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - Vietnam War veterans had a homecoming Saturday in Fort Wayne.

Parkview Field hosted Vietnam Veterans of America Homecoming for veterans who may not have received a nice return home four decades ago.

"It's a festive event," Bennie Edwards, who helped organize the homecoming ceremony, says. "Kind of like a family reunion for Vietnam veterans. We truly enjoy having the veterans come out, and receive the welcome home that was long overdue."

The ceremony featured several speakers, including Mayor Tom Henry, D-Fort Wayne, Allen County Republican Party chairman Steve Shine and author Phillip Wise.
