Study Connection Celebrates 25th Anniversary (VIDEO)

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - Study Connection program celebrated its 25th anniversary Thursday with a breakfast to spotlight the program's volunteers and students.

Study Connection, started in 1989, is a local program that connects students who need extra academic assistance with professionals.

Erin Gruwell, an English teacher, was the featured speaker. Gruwell is known for her teaching methods which led to the novel, The Freedom Writers.

Doni Adam was honored as 2013 Tutor of the Year.

Over the past two decades, Study Connection has served some 10,000 students.
