UNDATED (www.incnow.tv) - Staff Sergeant, Robert Bales, is appearing in a military courtroom Monday, for the beginning of his trial.

Prosecutors say Bales murdered 16 people, including nine children, in one of the worst atrocities of the Afghanistan War.

The married father of two is accused of leaving an outpost and opening fire in two villages of Kandahar Province, in March.

His wife told ABC News she knows he didn't do it.

If convicted, Bales would face the death penalty.
