UNITED STATES (www.incnow.tv) -- The American Medical Association has officially designated obesity as a disease.
The AMA says the disease requires medical treatment and prevention. One-third of Americans are obese. That's on top of the one-third who are overweight.
A board member of the association says recognizing obesity as a disease will help change the way the medical community tackles this complex issue that affects approximately one in three Americans.
