Chase Placing Limits On Debit Card Holders During Target Breach

December 22, 2013 Updated Dec 22, 2013 at 10:54 PM EST

UNDATED (21Alive) – J.P. Morgan Chase is placing temporary limits on debit cards used at Target stores during the recent security breach.

Daily cash withdrawals are limited to $100, and purchases to $300. The card breach affected about two million Chase customers. The limit does not apply to J.P. Morgan Chase credit cards.

Debit card customers were notified about the limitations Sunday, and Chase says new debit cards will be issued over the coming weeks.

The bank says the action is being taken as a precaution. The Target security breach occurred between Nov. 27 and Dec. 15.
