FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) -- A gasp from Saint Peter's Square as the faithful saw black smoke billow from the chimney atop the Sistine Chapel.
Selecting a pontiff is well underway and the black smoke serves as a sign that there was no new Pope. 115 Cardinals had taken the oath to faithfully follow the rules of the Papal Election before the doors locked, leaving the Cardinals alone in the Sistine Chapel to pray and cast the first round of ballots.
Melissa Long spoke with Papal Historian, Carol Cornell, Tuesday to learn more about the Conclave and the process of electing a new Pope.
