Police: Man Calls 911, Falsely Reports That His Girlfriend Was Kidnapped In Order To Keep Her From Moving Out

A strange story from Florida last weekend.

According to a news release issued by the Monroe County (Fla.) Sheriff's Office, authorities said a 35-year-old Florida man was arrested and charged with misuse of 911 and resisting arrest for allegedly calling 911 and reporting that his girlfriend had been kidnapped in order to keep her from moving out of their apartment.

According to the news release, police said the man called 911 to report his wife had been kidnapped by two men driving a U-Haul truck. The man allegedly admitted to authorities that he made the false kidnapping report in order to keep his girlfriend from leaving their apartment, according to the news release.
