Honda Recalls 800,000 Vehicles Because They Can Roll Away

December 12, 2012 Updated Dec 12, 2012 at 4:38 PM EST

Honda is recalling more than 800,000 vehicles nationwide.

The reason? They can roll away, even though the driver has removed the key from the ignition.

The recall involves 318,000 Honda Odyssey minivans and 259,000 Pilot SUVs from the 2003 and 2004 model years and 230,000 Acura MDX SUVs from 2003 through 2006.

Honda says the problem is that a system that stops the key from being removed unless the vehicles are in park, can wear out.

Dealers will fix the problem for free and owners will begin receiving notices of the recall starting in February.
