Shoplifting Suspect Shoots and Kills Walmart Employee, Police Say

A shocking incident at a Florida Walmart store on Friday night.

According to a report from the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, police said a security officer at a Florida Walmart store was shot and killed on Friday night by a suspected shoplifter. The employee -- a 49-year-old man -- was shot while trying to stop the suspect from stealing packages of shirts, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel report.

Police said the dead body of a man matching the description of the suspect was found near the store with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the Sun-Sentinel report.
