WARSAW, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Police in Kosciusko County are investigating a hit & run crash with an Amish buggy Saturday night.

According to Stacey Page Online digital newspaper, surveillance video from a Wal-Mart parking lot on Shelden Street shows a white 1993 Chevrolet Lumina accelerate and hit the horse pulling the buggy just before 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 29th.

The Chevrolet Lumina then sped off. The driver, 24 year old Francisco J. Gonzalez, was eventually stopped and arrested on C.R. 200 W near U.S. 30, the report says. Police say Francisco tested at 0.17% and was released from the hospital before he could be taken into custody.

Francisco is charged with failure to stop after a vehicle accident and operating while intoxicated. Additional charges may be sought once the investigation is complete. None of the Amish passengers nor any of the witnesses thought the collision was intentional.

The horse was killed instantly, the report says. The Amish passengers were thrown from the buggy, but not severely injured.
