The wait for probably the most-hyped piece of technology is over.

Apple's new iPhone went on sale tonight, ending a long 6 month wait for the revolutionary device that acts as a combination cell phone, handheld web browser and iPod.

The anticipation has been made worse by commercials showing the iPhone's 3-and-a-half inch touch-screen display that literally lets your finger do the walking, or rather sliding, to pull up a variety of features.

The iPhones aren't cheap: up to $600 for an 8-gigabyte version. They're only available at Apple and AT&T stores.

AT&T is the phone's exclusive carrier, with a minimum 2-year-$60 a month service plan. There is an AT&T store at Glenbrook Square Mall in Fort Wayne.
