FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) --- You'll always be 'in the know' the moment your child's school starts late, is canceled, or dismisses early by signing up for Indiana NewsCenter's Textcaster text message and email alerts.

The new services are in addition to the bouquet of email and text messageing for breaking news and weather alerts available from Indiana's NewsCenter.

"This additional service is an absolute 'must' for every parent with a child in school, or for teens attending college, or grand-parents who help watch grand kids after school," said Indiana NewsCenter's news director Peter Neumann.

Indiana's NewsCenter Textcaster sends immediate text messages to your phone or an email (depending on your preferences) alerting you to changes in school start or end times, or cancelation.

"We've been provisding text message news alerts for some time. But the new school alert system is perfect that you can sign up to get alerts exactly for the school or schools you are interested in," said Neumann.

Indiana's NewsCenter also offers text message and email alerts for severe weather, selectable by the county or counties you need.

Thousands of residents in Northeast Indiana have already signed up for the Textcaster school and weather alerts. You should too! Click here to sign up.
