Horse Killed and Rider Injured After Being Struck By Vehicle

According to a report from Granite Broadcasting sister station WKBW in Buffalo, N.Y., a horse and rider were struck by a car, leaving the animal dead and the rider injured in an accident in Hartfield, N.Y..

According to the WKBW report:

Police say the horse and rider were traveling on a state highway when an approaching truck traveling the same way struck the horse.

The rider was thrown from the horse. One oncoming car traveling the opposite way avoided the horse, while a second vehicle struck the horse.

The rider was flown to a hospital. Neither of the drivers were injured.
