Are you a Craigslist or eBay addict, regularly browsing for items of interest on the online shopping or item-swapping sites?
If so, you might want to take a look at this list compiled by Business Insider documenting the 17 Things You Should Never Buy Secondhand.
What made the list, you ask? Things that aren't worth the potential safety or health risks.
Here's a sampling of some of the items identified by Business Insider:
Bike helmets -- scratches or other damage can cause the safety rating to drop
Cribs -- a potentially damaged bed could cause problems
Laptop computers -- buying a laptop with no warranty or customer service plan could cause headaches later on
Footwear -- they have probably already been formed to the foot of the previous owner, which could cause problems
Hats -- a hygiene issue could surface such as lice
Mattresses and pillows -- bedbugs, mold and other problems could surface
Child car seats -- a damaged one could compromise safety
Car tires -- another item that could compromise safety depending on condition, tread and wear
Conversely, Business Insider also has a list of 13 Things You're Better Off Buying Used.
Bikes, textbooks, children's clothing, cars, jewelry, furniture and household appliances, are prominent on that list, according to Business Insider.
