Former NASCAR Driver Dead in Apparent Suicide

According to a report from the Charlotte Observer, police in North Carolina said former NASCAR driver Dick Trickle was found dead Thursday from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Trickle was 71.

Police said Trickle was found dead next to his truck, which was parked at a cemetery, according to the Charlotte Observer report.

Trickle, a Wisconsin native, was a short track racing legend who became a fan favorite during his time in NASCAR, when began in the late 1990s.
