WASHINGTON/ VIRGINIA (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - There's a new challenge to President Obama's sweeping health care law.

A federal judge in Virginia ruled Monday that a key part of the reform is unconstitutional.

The judge took issue with the law's mandate requiring most Americans to purchase health insurance by 2014.

This is the first federal court to strike down the law, contradicting other recent rulings.

6th District Indiana Congressman Mike Pence issued the following statement shortly after the federal judge issued his ruling:

"Now that a federal judge has shown the individual mandate in “ObamaCare” to be unconstitutional, it's time to repeal it lock, stock and barrel. “
