INDIANA (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Hoosier homeowners who were victims of escrow fraud are now receiving up to $125,000 in restitution.

American Escrow had a series of fraud complaints last year that cost many homeowners tax and insurance money.

The victims of the fraud were mailed restitution checks just last week.

Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller said, “I think it is important to encourage people during a bad economy to be on guard of things where they may be paying money to ensure that they are protected in the future.”

The attorney general also stated that this case was successful because of the victims coming forward.
