SOUTH BEND, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - The missing priest from South Bend has made contact with family and police, letting them know he is safe.

Police have not released where Father Carboneau is at the priest's request. A detective has spoken to Carboneau's family and they say they feel he is safe.

Police have been searching for Carboneau since early January after finding a note saying he was going to be leaving for a few days. The note did not include the reason for his absence.

Carboneau's own family didn't even know where he was and it was Carboneau's father who filed the missing persons report.
