FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - The Fort Wayne TinCaps keep hitting home runs on and off the field.

The TinCaps' Grounds Crew, led by head Groundskeeper Mitch McClary, has been named the Midwest League Grounds Crew of the Year.

This marks the first time in franchise history Fort Wayne has won the award.

McClary joined the TinCaps in 2008, but recently accepted a position with the Omaha Royals.

The Midwest League Sports Turf Manager - Grounds Crew of the Year award is voted on by the League's managers and umpires.

Voting is based on quality of playing surface, infield - outfield turf, preparation of field, quality of pitching mounds, home plate, bullpens and warning track.
