ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - Some students at East Allen County Schools are participating in a statewide poll of teen drug use.
Members from the "Indiana Prevention Resource Center" will talk to 7th through 12th graders for the voluntary and anonymous survey, which will measure teens' alcohol, tobacco and other drug use.
Data collected will be used to show school systems the prevalence of drug and alcohol use among students, as well as show statewide trends.
EACS Safety Manager Jeff Studebaker says, “They also talk to the kids about school safety, the correlation between the involvement in activities, absences from school, and drug use. All those factors are surveyed. It helps us then determine whether we need to change our programs."
Participating in the survey allows EACS to apply for grant money to fund "no alcohol, no drug" activities after school.
