"FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Nov. 5, 2010) – After conducting a nationwide search, the Dupont Hospital Board of Directors is turning to an administrator with deep roots in the community. Effective Nov. 29, Chad Towner will join the leadership team at Dupont as the hospital’s chief executive officer. Towner was the chief operating officer at Lutheran Health Network sister facility St. Joseph Hospital until taking the CEO position at Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill W. Va., almost two years ago.
Dupont board members were won over by Towner’s familiarity with the hospital’s culture of providing unparalleled customer service.
“Chad is a leader who knows firsthand that Dupont's growth during its initial decade is directly related to providing patients an experience that is not only high tech but also high touch,” said Todd C. Rumsey, MD, Dupont Hospital board chair and Lutheran Health Network board member. “His development as an administrator is consistent with our evolution as a hospital, and both are ready to capitalize on the opportunities that lie ahead. I am especially excited that Chad and his family are choosing Dupont Hospital and Fort Wayne over all of the other opportunities available to them.”
Towner has spent more than 14 years of his professional career in healthcare, most of which involve holding leadership roles within LHN. Before serving as the COO at St. Joe, he was a vice president at RediMed.
“We are fortunate to fill this important position with an individual who is so familiar with our high standards,” said Joe Dorko, chief executive officer, Lutheran Health Network. “The board agrees that his energy and talents exemplify what ‘The Dupont Difference’ is all about.”
This is the second major position filled within Lutheran Health Network since Dorko was unanimously approved just three weeks ago by the LHN board to become the network’s permanent CEO. He had been serving in an interim role since June. Eric Looper was announced as the new CEO of St. Joseph Hospital Oct. 29."
Towner majored in pre-physical therapy with a minor in psychology at Indiana University before being accepted into the physical therapy program at Finch UHS / The Chicago Medical School (now Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science), where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1996. He received a Master of Business Administration degree from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2000. "
