INDIANAPOLIS (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - The longtime voice of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway has been given a fond farewell.

A public memorial service was held at the Speedway Tuesday for Tom Carnegie, who died last week at age 91.

He was the race track's public address announcer for 61 years from 1946 until he retired in 2006.

And he called the Indianapolis 500 during each of those years.
