Automakers Pouring Big Dollars Into Super Bowl Ads

DETROIT (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - The Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers continue getting ready for Sunday's Super Bowl 45 in Dallas.

The game is the main event, but, a lot of people tune in to watch the commercials.

Indiana’s NewsCenter is getting a first look at how GM leaders are hoping to get you to buy their products

One commercial for the Chevrolet Cruze is one of five 30-second spots the automaker will air during the Super Bowl for a totally of $15-million.

Chevrolet is returning to the big game for the first time in four years.

Company representatives tell us the reason is simple.

The Super Bowl is expected to have a record TV audience.

GM's Chief Marketing Officer Joel Ewenick says, “It's one of the few places where you can run a TV ad, and not only are they paying attention to the ad, and very impressed with what they're watching, in this case, the football game, but, they're also paying attention to the commercials, and that is an incredibly efficient way for us to get our message out.”

The Silverado heavy duty pick-up truck built here in Fort Wayne is featured in another one of the commercials.

The game's MVP will also receive a Camaro convertible.
