KENDALLVILLE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) -- The only woman vying to fill Marlin Stutzman's seat in the Indiana District 13 senate race has won. LaGrange County attorney C. Susan Glick (Sue Glick) won in the 5th round of voting. Sue Glick received the majority of votes in the fifth round of caucusing with 33.

Precinct Committeemen and women voted throughout the morning and early part of the afternoon.

The five candidates looking to fill Stutzman's seat came from various backgrounds, form a dentist to a sheriff. But, it was the lawyer from LaGrange who proved successful.

"It think [working at the State House] is the most humbling experience," said Senator-Elect Sue Glick.

Glick and many of her Republican counterparts all echoed similar philosophies at Saturday's caucus. Most spoke of limiting government, slashing spending and cutting taxes with hopes of creating new Hoosier jobs.

"I think balancing the budget is absolutely the most important thing," said Glick.

U.S. Rep. Marlin Stutzman, who is now addressing a new set of constituent issues on the national level, was in Kendallville to see old GOP friends and support his new successor.

"[Sue] is going to be a great Senator," said Stutzman. "She is very knowledgeable about the district and the process."

The GOP says the Party should certify the caucus election by next week to allow Glick to be sworn into office before the end of the year.

The candidates that participated in Saturday's caucus include Regan Ford, Harold Gingerich, Susan Glick, Gary Leatherman and Dennis Zent.
