WASHINGTON, D.C. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - Finding work is getting harder for the unemployed. The Labor Department said businesses were creating fewer new jobs than expected.
That makes it even tougher for job-seekers.
Only 115,000 jobs were created in April, less than the 154,000 jobs that were created in March.
The Labor Department says more people quit looking for work in May. Unemployment was set at 8.1%, only slightly lower than in March. The Labor Department only counts people among the unemployed if they are actually out there trying to find a job.
The Labor Department says the sectors doing the most hiring are in professional and business services, health care, retail.
