WASHINGTON (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - There are new federal nutrition standards for school lunches.

Wednesday morning, First Lady Michelle Obama and the Secretary of Agriculture announced there will be calorie and sodium limits for meals, which will also include no trans-fats.

A fruit and vegetable must be in every lunch and in larger portions than before

After two years, all grains must be whole grains like brown rice

And there must be a minimum number of leafy green, red-orange and starchy vegetables every week.

The changes are the first in 15-years, and are designed to help reduce childhood obesity.
