CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Indiana's NewsCenter) -- A woman carrying a gun walked into the lobby of the ABC Affiliate television station, WSOC, in North Carolina Tuesday evening. Because of the security of the building, she didn’t get any further then the lobby.

“When the woman came in with the gun, everybody that was in the lobby evacuated from the lobby which pretty much left her self-contained within that lobby area, believing that the security precautions that were in place by the station confined her to that area." said Chief Rodney Monroe of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

The General Manger of the station said the woman was distraught and at one point put the gun to her head. The gun didn’t contain any bullets and no shots were fired. It was not a hostage situation.

Police were able to resolve the situation quickly and the woman was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

It’s unclear at this time what the woman was upset about but she was not angry with the station.

No one was injured, and all the employees were evacuated safely.
