Do you think Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels will run for President in 2012?
INDIANA (Indiana's NewsCenter) --- The State of Indiana could grab some of the Washington spotlight, if one of two Hoosier politicians makes the jump into the 2012 Presidential race.
It’s sort of uncharted territory for Indiana.
In fact, most of the time the presidential hopefuls barely pay any attention to the Hoosier state on the campaign trail.
But Indiana could be a big player in next year's Presidential race, because Governor Mitch Daniels is mulling a run for the White House, as is 6th District Congressman Mike Pence, who represents constituents from Northeast Indiana.
IPFW Political Science Professor Michael Wolf says Indiana figures to gain in prestige if either one or the other chooses to pursue the presidency.
Michael Wolf Ph.D./IPFW Professor of Political Science: " There is a particular stamp that both of them have from where they are from, especially for Governor Daniels, if he compares the Indiana record and his gubernatorial kind of successes to other states, then it demonstrates, hey, Indiana is doing really well, and kind of opens the eyes."
Other benefits might not come unless Daniels or Pence runs and wins.
President Obama has put a number of colleagues from Illinois in powerful positions in his administration.
Wolf presumes the same kind of thing would happen if voters send a Hoosier to the oval office.
