FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - You've heard of a field of dreams, well Parkview Field is quickly becoming a field of multiple uses.

Wednesday's Zac Brown Band concert is expected to smash venue attendance records.

"I think it's an amazing idea," Brittany Burdett said.

"I love the outdoor idea. I love that it's not just one use. We spent so much money on this field that we can get more than one use out of it. It's a great way to utilize the money. I love it," Burdett said.

More than 7,000 fans were expected to take in the Grammy award winning band's show.

However, none of that would have been possible without last summer's Mercy Me concert.

5,700 tickets were sold and that concert is being credited with showing national promoters that Parkview Field can be more than just a baseball diamond.

Trinity Communications has been in the promotions business for 29 years.

They hosted the pivotal Mercy Me concert and said that show was a catalyst for their next Fort Wayne show.

Trinity Communications' next show will be a one-day christian music festival at Parkview Field on Saturday, July 17.

They are expecting between five to seven thousand concert goers, many of those coming from Michigan and Ohio.

"There always looking for great venues and different sports experiences and so if you can play something other than baseball I think it will do well out here," Fort Wayne Tincaps President Mike Nutter said.

Parkview Field expects to attract three or four concerts next year.

Another major soccer match up could kick off next spring.

A few other non-baseball sporting events are being thrown around at Parkview Field.

Tincaps executives said their counterparts from the Fort Wayne Komets and the Fort Wayne Mad Ants have inquired about holding outdoor games at Parkview Field.

However, a single Komets game could be too costly, with an average ticket price of thirty to forty dollars per seat.

Meanwhile, weather would be a determining factor for an outdoor Mad Ants game.
