FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- A recent iAB Bank sponsored flip flop drive yielded over 1,000 pairs of flip flops being donated to the Rescue Mission.
iAB Financial employees from all branch locations contributed by purchasing new sandals to create the significant donation to the charity organization. The Rescue Mission uses the flip flops to give to people seeking emergency shelter at the Life House part of the organization. The donation is said to be enough to provide the Life House with enough flip flops for an entire year.
“We are so thankful to iAB for providing us with this awesome gift! In our emergency shelter, many men come in with only one pair of shoes, often filthy and falling apart. The flip flops provide an alternative pair of shoes to wear until they can get a new pair. Our residents also share shower areas with up to 60 other individuals. The flip flops help to keep showers sanitary and provide a sense of dignity as they share that space,” stated Sharon Garig, Life House Coordinator.
iAB says the donation is part of their effort to serve the community and establish the organizations values of "integrity, accountability, and brotherhood."
